For this blog post (Week 6's assignment), we are asked to give a brief description of our visions of where we would like to be in the next five years as an instructor, and 3 SMART goals that would get us closer to our visions.
My goals at this point is to grow my knowledge in the adult education field, and I don't think it will take me 5 years to where I want to be, only about 3. I am going whole hog on the designations as my goals.
Goal #1 - Complete my CPHR designation by April 2024. My documents, exam, and verification of experience has been sent in...just waiting on their assent. I started my journey to this designation in 2018 and I'd like to put it to bed. There isn't a lot of CPHR roundtables on adult education/learning and development and I could see myself as a presenter in this forum.
Goal #2 - Complete my PIDP by the end of December 2024. A number of my previous courses are transferrable - I only have 4 more courses to take. I think it's attainable to complete this whole program by the end of the year. I'd like to have this done so I can speak knowledgeably about this program as I send my instructors through this course and be a useful resource for them.
Goal #3 - Complete my Masters of Education in Adult Education by January 2027. I've submitted my application to start January 2025...just waiting. We can afford it and I believe it would be helpful to have these letters behind my name while sitting on boards and sourcing new contracts in the education world. I could possibly apply to be a sessional instructor in adult education, and I could see myself doing that as a semi-retirement activity.
